She Reads Everything

I love books. Just staring at my bookshelves gives me a sense of peace. Rather than any specific genre, I love good books. To me a good book is one that at the end leaves me happier and/or smarter.

The Flame Trees of Thika: Memories of an African Childhood (Classic, 20th-Century, Penguin)

The Flame Trees of Thika: Memories of an African Childhood - Elspeth Huxley Not my favorite book about Africa. I wanted (unfairly) this book to be Out of Africa, which is one of my favorites, but I felt like this book was less about Africa as a continent and more about Europeans in Africa who don't really want to be there. It took me several chapters to figure out the two people she kept referring to by first name were her parents. This was a frustrating read for me.
