She Reads Everything

I love books. Just staring at my bookshelves gives me a sense of peace. Rather than any specific genre, I love good books. To me a good book is one that at the end leaves me happier and/or smarter.

Gentle Rogue (Malory Novels)

Gentle Rogue (Malory Novels) - Johanna Lindsey I have two issues with this book. First, how could a heroine raised on the shipping business whose father and five brothers were all ship captains even consider being snippy to her own captain when she's trying to pass for a (male) cabin boy? Second, there were too many repetive phrases. Only a quarter of the way through I felt if I heard one more "double damn" or "devil take it" I was going to smack somebody, specifically the rather awful narrator of the audio book. In addition, the author's machinations in getting wealthy Georgie on board a Mallory ship as a cabin boy were incredibly far-fetched, but hey, it's a pirate romance novel, so that I could live with (while rolling my eyes). Even with these issues, the book promptly went from three stars to four when Georgina's five brothers showed up and just got more entertaining when James's brothers, cousins, son, and nephews (did I get everyone?) were added to the mix. There was more ship-jumping and sneaking out of back windows than I've ever read in one book crammed into that final third, but instead of getting old, it just got funnier. Definitely want to read Warren's book next!
